Meltwater and We Are Social reveal the 10 misconceptions you need to know to better manage your digital strategy in 2023.

Through the results of their Digital Report 2023, Meltwater, a media monitoring and social listening solution, and We are social, an international creative agency, reveal the 10 main prejudices of the digital world, despite greater user awareness in their use of the internet.

Traditional social platforms remain in vogue
Social media has become a saudi arabia mobile database part of everyday life for all users. This growing use has led to many misconceptions. Many people believe that social media users are abandoning older platforms to focus on newer ones. However, the Digital Report 2023 shows that 82.5% of TikTok users , considered the social media platform of choice , still use Facebook every month .

Social networks are anchored in everyday life
Another prejudice lies in the fact of considering that scrolling has no direct purpose. However, the study by Meltwater and We are social shows that 55.8% of Internet users use social networks as a source of information , but also to maintain contact with others. Moreover, the main reason why Internet users use social media is to search for brands and information on products. Contrary to what one might think, the social media advertising market in France has increased by 9%, an estimated value of more than 3 billion dollars annually according to Statista. Influence also continues to evolve and moreover, 9 out of 10 consumers are more inclined to trust influencers than advertisements, contrary to what one might believe.

The French are now increasingly turning to online shopping. In fact, 53.7% of online French people aged 16 to 64 have purchased products or services online , which is 6% more than last year.

Furthermore, while the majority of users believe that the internet is becoming increasingly important in their daily lives, the average time spent daily on websites has decreased by 6.7%, or about half an hour less than the previous year. However, time spent on social media is increasing.
