On September 28th at 4:00 pm, during a webinar, the results of the research on the level of circularity of Italian manufacturing companies conducted by the RISE Laboratory - Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering of the University of Brescia will be presented through the C-Readiness tool developed by the same laboratory.
C-Readiness is able to photograph the level of telegram data circularity of companies, identify their strengths and identify potential areas of improvement from which to start the circular transition. It is divided into 33 multiple choice questions, grouped into 6 evaluation areas that follow the life cycle of a generic product and its value chain. The C-Readiness tool converts each answer provided into a numerical circularity score.
For this first survey, 144 Italian companies were interviewed, with the contribution of over 200 managers. The results show how, in general, Italian manufacturing companies are still not very “ready” with respect to the Circular Economy paradigm: the C-Score, the average circularity score of the sample analyzed, is 45 points out of 100. Over 70% of the companies analyzed obtained a circularity score lower than 50 points. With larger companies managing to obtain greater results than small ones.
It is interesting to note that there are different levels of preparation depending on the area analyzed. As regards product design, the average circularity score is 63 points and in good transversal green practices 56 points are obtained. While we have a drastic drop when we talk about business models (average score 27 points) and end-of-life management and regeneration (average score 35 points), both areas of fundamental importance in achieving a full Circular Economy.
